Those who develop a negative working attitude in no way inspire any confidence within their staff. Even though management does not come into contact with many outside forces during their daily operations, they are forced to make quick decisions based on limited information. These decisions often mean making split second decisions that have long term effects. As a result, many managers need extensive training to effectively handle change. In fact, it is not uncommon for some managers to spend an entire career developing the skills necessary to effectively handle change.

Finally, effective leaders realize that it takes passion to become a successful leader. Just as it’s important for managers to develop effective leadership styles, leaders must also understand what it takes to succeed at becoming one. In essence, leaders need to continually educate themselves about effective leadership. They must also take the time to develop personal leadership skills such as how to motivate others and how to lead by example.
