Hospitality MANAGERS represent the front line of hospitality professions. Hospitality Managers manage all aspects of the hospitality industry including customer service, sales, public relations, marketing, and sales support. In order to be a Hospitality Manager, one must possess strong leadership skills, multi-task ability, exhibit good organizational skills, have an interest in public service, and understand the legal aspects of hospitality as well. Hospitality Managers are also responsible for coordinating the day to day operations of hospitals and other medical facilities. Hospitality Managers are not only in charge of the front line of Hospitality professionals; they are also involved in running Hospitality Management Colleges that are specially designed to train management professionals with a background in Hospitality.
Hospitality MANAGERS generally obtain their degrees by attending and finishing a Hospitality Management Associate Degree program at an accredited university or college. Hospitality degrees vary widely and often depend on the area of concentration of the student. Hospitality Management Associates Degree programs prepare students to work in front of the hospitality public, hotel and restaurant staff, and other Hospitality Professionals. Many Hospitality Managers begin their careers in hotel management and hotel and restaurant business before transitioning into Hospitality positions in other areas. Many Hospitality Managers elect to obtain additional education after completing Hospitality MBA degrees.
Hospitality Managers can advance to senior level positions at hotels, casinos, restaurants, conventions, and attractions. The senior positions available in Hospitality Management can include General Manager, Senior Director of Hospitality, Vice President of Hospitality, Manager of Finance and Operations, and more. Hospitality careers require not only a great degree but also a combination of knowledge, technical experience, and on-the-job experience. Graduates may choose to become a Hospitality Manager, Hospitality Front Office Manager, or Special Account Manager. All Hospitality positions require excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and the ability to lead.
