American Media

Media is basically the information delivery or channels used to transport and store data or information. The word actually refers more to components of this vast mass communications system, including television, radio, films, magazines, newspaper, and the Internet. There are also many other channels, which are used in the global communication systems. With the development of new technology, there are new media developing, as well.

While the old forms of media have been replaced by newer ones, one of the most commonly used channels in the old system is the television. This is because television provides people with visual information, by using the transmitted signals through the air, and cable companies provide the networks with these signals in the form of television programs. Because of its widespread use in society, television, radio, and films are considered mediums of major influence in society today.

Movies have a great impact on the masses, as they reach the audience directly through a movie projector or TV set. Even without a movie projector or television, people go to the cinema to watch a movie to relax, have fun, or release stress. Many people also prefer to watch a movie in the comforts of their own homes, with the help of satellite or cable television. New media, such as the internet, can further influence the American people as well, with the creation of websites and blogs, the distribution of e-books, and the use of social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
